Treadmill Running Tips:

  1. Get in shape to run!  Do not run to get in shape.  Consult a trainer and do the prep work.
  2. You may have poor body alignment if it sounds “like a herd of stampeding rhinos” when you are running.  Listen!  Ask to be observed and apply the corrections.
  3. Holding on to the rails (or the console) as you run (or walk for that matter!) will throw your alignment off and will lead to discomfort or injury to your spine, hips, back or shoulders.  If you can not run without holding on, then you must slow down the speed and increase the incline to achieve the desired intensity.
  4.   Run at a speed where you can maintain proper form.  As in weight training, do not sacrifice form for intensity.
