WHAT IS
INTERCLUB?
Interclub combines competition between members of clubs across the Montreal
area with camaraderie and after-match dinner and drinks. Teams are composed
of at least 6 players, 3-4 of whom play every week from October 2009 to
April 2010. In September and October 2009, Le Club West
Island will put
together teams in the following categories that will play on the nights
given (days are subject to change):
Men’s B – Tuesday
Men’s C1 – Wednesday
Men’s C2 – Thursday
Men’s D – Monday or Thursday
Women’s B – Wednesday
Women’s C & D –
Monday or Thursday
Cost
There is a fee between $40 and
$50 to be a registered member of an interclub team. The
Montreal Squash League (MSL) determines
this cost. When matches are played at Le Club West Island (home games),
it may be the obligation of each player to buy supper and
a drink for his or her opponent. When matches are played at another club, the
hosting team treats the visiting team. This reciprocal courtesy rule may
be instituted by the Montreal Squash League at the beginning of the season.
Commitment
The season
runs from the middle of October 2009 to the beginning of
April 2010. Matches are played every week, except for the
Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Thus, interclub is a weekly
commitment. Players are required to notify their team captain if they
will be unable to play on a particular week. It is the responsibility
of the captain to ensure that a full team plays each week, to determine the line-up,
and to find a replacement when a regular player cannot attend.
Sportsmanship
Although
interclub is about competition, it is also about sportsmanship. Interclub
players form a team that represents their home facility, Le Club West Island,
in this case. Good sportsmanship is a requirement and poor behaviour will
be dealt with accordingly at the discretion of the Montreal Squash League
and/or the Club Squash Professional.
Please refer to the Squash Québec
website for the league
schedules,
rankings and complete
rules and guidelines.Le
Club West Island team selection and player line-up will take place Sunday,
October 4. After teams have been selected, it is still possible to play as a
spare.
